Our kitesurfing school is strategically located at St. Joris Bay on Curacao’s pristine northeastern coast—the island’s most accessible and beginner-friendly kiteboarding destination. St. Joris Bay offers ideal conditions for learning kitesurfing: calm, shallow waters perfect for beginners combined with consistent wind conditions that provide. The bay is surrounded by mangroves and native sea grass, creating a peaceful and safe environment. Experience world-class kitesurfing year-round (minimum…) comfortable kitesurfing in every season. 🏄

How to Get to the Kitespot?

The kitespot is located on a small peninsula in the northwestern part of the lagoon. Upon arrival, you’ll find signs for The Ostrich Farm at key points along the route.

It’s best to follow the signs to The Ostrich Farm. Once you reach it, keep the ostrich farm on your right and drive straight ahead.

The paved road ends at the farm, after which you continue on a dusty, unpaved road. However, it is easily accessible, even with a regular rental car. Follow the road downhill towards the water. From the small hill, you’ll already see the bay. Drive about 100 meters towards the waterfront and turn left through an open white gate to reach the kitespot.

Best Time for Kitesurfing in Curacao

The best time for kitesurfing in Curacao is from December to August when the trade winds are at their steadiest.
However, with the sport's growth, Curacao offers excellent kitesurfing conditions year-round. Whether you visit during the high season or off-season, you'll enjoy consistent winds and warm waters, making it an ideal destination for all skill levels.

Great experience. I reached out to Nix Kiteboarding School on a whim a couple of weeks before arriving on the island. I’m a total beginner, zero experience. Nick was forthcoming that the wind may or may not be great this time of year. As the trip got closer he let me know that it was looking good. Nick was awesome. He is a total professional with a great personality. He was informative and patient. He laid out a plan for each day and progressed me through it. I was up and riding by end of day two. The location is beautiful and convenient to Jan Thiel where I was staying. Facilities, staff and equipment were great. Amazing experience. Highly recommend. I’ll be back.

NIX is the place to go if you want to learn kite surfing on Curacao. They have excellent teachers who quickly see and explain how you can improve. The spot is excellent with flat, shallow water - perfect for beginners. More experienced kiters will quickly sharpen their skills as Nick and his colleagues can’t help but point out all the little stuff you could improve. Their gear is excellent. How to kite safely is woven into every lesson. With a horror story here and there to drive home their point. NIX is simply the best kite school on Curacao. Just spent a fantastic day kiteboarding at Sint Joris Lagoon with rental gear from Nix Kiteboarding. To begin, Nick is friendly, welcoming and very accommodating. The gear was in good condition and the instructions provided regarding the lagoon and local conditions were accurate and thorough. To top it off, both Nick and his girlfriend were gracious enough to assist me with transfers to/from the hotel where I was staying at a very reasonable price. I would not hesitate to recommend Nix Kitesurfing School as a great place to learn the sport. Five stars
